Seasonal Guide

Solvang in Spring 2027

Spring is one of the two best seasons to visit the Santa Ynez Valley — green hills, wildflowers, mild weather, and none of the summer crowds. March through May is the local's favorite window.

Why Spring in the Valley

🌿

Green Hills

Winter rains turn the surrounding hills emerald green — a completely different landscape than the golden-brown summer valley. The Santa Ynez Mountains behind Santa Barbara are spectacular in March.

🌸

Wildflowers

In good rain years, Figueroa Mountain Road (40 min north) becomes one of the best wildflower drives in California. The Nojoqui Falls area near Buellton also blooms.

🍷

Uncrowded Wineries

Tasting rooms from January through April are at their quietest. Winemakers have time to pour, talk, and pull out library wines. Spring whites and rosé are just being released.

☀️

Perfect Weather

65–78°F daytime with cool evenings. Sunny by April. Walking Mission Drive or doing a vineyard tasting in April feels entirely different from August.
