Solvang in Spring 2027

Spring (March–May) is one of the two best times to visit Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley. The hills are emerald green, wildflowers bloom in the valley and on the surrounding mountains, and crowds are dramatically lower than summer or fall. The Santa Barbara County Vintners' Festival typically happens in April — a major wine event in the valley.

Peak wildflower season in the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara backcountry is typically late February through April, depending on winter rainfall. March and April are usually the peak months. The hills along Highway 154 (San Marcos Pass), Figueroa Mountain Road, and the back roads east of Solvang are particularly spectacular in good wildflower years.

The Santa Barbara County Vintners' Association Spring Festival is the largest ticketed wine event in the valley, typically held in April. 100+ Santa Barbara County wineries pour in one venue. Tickets sell out weeks in advance — check sbcountywines.com for the 2027 dates and ticket release.

Spring in Solvang is mild and increasingly sunny. March averages 65–70°F with possible rain; April is 68–74°F and mostly dry; May is 70–78°F and reliably sunny. Evenings are cool in March and April — bring a layer. It's the most comfortable weather of the year for outdoor wine tasting and walking tours.
