Things to Do in November 2026 — Santa Ynez Valley
November is the Santa Ynez Valley at its most uncrowded and unhurried. Harvest is over, Julefest begins in Solvang, and the wineries finally have time to slow down and talk.
Why Visit in November
Post-Harvest Wineries
Harvest is complete. Winemakers are in the cellar with fresh-pressed wine and have time to actually talk with visitors. Tank samples, barrel tastes, and this-year's vintage direct from the tank.
Julefest Begins
Late November is when Solvang transforms for the Danish holiday season. Lights, mulled wine, aebleskiver, and the town at its most festive but most peaceful — before the December crowds.
Uncrowded Valley
Danish Days and harvest are behind you. November weekends are dramatically less busy than September and October — no crowds at the bakeries, no waiting at tasting rooms.
Green Hills Ahead
The first rains of the season begin in November, and the hills start to turn green for the first time since spring. The valley looks entirely different — lusher and quieter.

Julefest 2026 — Late November Opening
Solvang's Danish holiday festival begins in late November and runs through early January. The lighting ceremony kicks off Julefest with the downtown shops decorated in traditional Danish style, vendors selling mulled wine and aebleskiver, and the town at its most photogenic. The opening weekend is one of the best times to visit Solvang all year — festive atmosphere but manageable crowds compared to December weekends.
